Whole Home Design

Mel Bean Interiors was originally hired to design a remodel of our clients existing home in collaboration with Silo Design Build.  But when a neighboring property became available, we started from scratch with a new build on an incredible and rare large lot in midtown Tulsa.  The homeowner brought with her a pretty clear sense of style — approachable and livable design, and elements of Danish hygge concepts.  This gave us a dreamy launch pad for our vision: creamy neutral textiles punctuated with blue-gray tones, cognac leathers, various warm but pale wood tones, glazed ceramics, black metals, and some traditional touches.  As a whole, the colors in the home remain in the cool blue, green, and purple families, but are combined with wood and other natural textures, such as sisal, grasscloth and leather to offer plenty of warmth.  An important element in this home is its connection to the outdoors, which includes gorgeous and functional outdoor living alongside the pool and yard, with plenty of space for an impromptu baseball game.
